gday fellow suzuki owners,i have just replaced stereo with an after market one, what I recall doing is cut away from old unit harness and then joined back together with new harness.all good so far,so I thought.stereo had no power to ir,so I mucked around checking connections and they were fine.after a bit of head scratching I thought it was tine to walk away from itto rethink why it didnt work.so I jumped in it to go for a drive...thats where it really goes pear shaped.turned key and nothing, pushed imobiliser button, nothing.my clock doesnt work nor int lights.dash lights up,headlights work blinkers and hazards work also, cig lighter also works.i am thinking somehow imobiliser and stereo is somehow linked? has any other member had the same problem or does someone have the know how to set me in right direction.any help is greatly appreciated. |

Check your fuses. Sounds like you shorted out some power wires when stripping out old radio. |

When you say you " cut away " the old unit wiring harness, i am imagining you cutting the wires and joining them up, is that right ? I am not sure why the wires needed to be cut, there is a plug, and a fair few of new stereo's are plug and play, i know my Kenwood just plugged straight into the GV stereo plug, easy... but if you have cut wires and joined them, i am thinking something has been done/wired wrong, and is blowing fuses, as B4T has said... Might need more clarification on exactly what you did... |

Very obvious, but have you re connected the battery terminals and tightened them accordingly? |

Everything that I could have done wrong I did, I checked the fuses and replaced what was blown and rechecked my wiring , after many hours scratching my head I gave in and called an auto sparky , after 10 maybe 15 mins he worked out I fried my immobiliser . After bypassing it and $100 he got it going and I learnt a valuable lesson. Thanx guys for your input it was very much appreciated. |

You're not the first to have had a sparky come out and have to by pass the immobiliser. |

sounds like you need a better sparky.... should only need to cut 2 alarm wires & join them back up. |

Barrel looks fine, but wires under the dash towards the kick panel were all over the shop.. well, they were "disturbed" and quite obviously manipulated around. Oh, and there is a single wire leading to the ingition key barrel that has the cleanest of splices in it. I only noticed that a few weeks ago while routing a cable through there. But yes, way too clean and super fishy. |

In my mind I like to think it was just some pros looking for the most inconspicuous vehicle to rob houses/businesses in for a week. The fact that they brought along replacement number plates, drove it around for a week without issue before eventually taking it into a huge car lot full of brand new vehicles straight of the ROROs and stole another dealer-bound, brand new car tells me they weren't just some kids looking for a joyride. |
