is there anything that can be done about rust in the cavities between panels? it only apears to be surface rust but i can't grind or sand it back is it gonna get worse and cause a problem or stay the way it is? Cheers Mike |

Cheers Mike Get some "Fishoil" rust treatment and dribble it or squirt it in there, then just wipe the excess off the paint-work with a rag (& turps if needed) Be VERY generous with it. The Fishoil is a self polymerizing oil (meaning it will set firm) The rust will soak it up like a sponge prior to polymerization, which will seal out oxygen. Rust= oxidation, which requires oxygen to happen. If you can't get fishoil, there is a lanolin based one, or you can use Floods Wood Oil or Floods Paint Oil. All do the same thing, just smell different. It is most important to get it right in there, so use your imagination, like jack up one side of the vehicle as high as you can or use a ramp so the stuff will run into the groove. Maybe use a syringe with a thin needle to squirt it in there. Phill |

cavity wax its a much better product than fish oil its pariffin based wax with anti rusting additives. its usually applied though a body deadner gun although I have seen it in areosol cans. to do inside sills and othe cavitys a small hole is drilled or grommets removed and a long tube fitted to the deadner gun,on the other end of the tube it is plugged and a series of holes drilled into the sides of the pipe right on the end so it sprays up, down and sides as you draw it out spraying. any holes drilled are sealed with a grommet and spray a little wax over that. cavity wax lasts for decades and it will warm and self heal/seal again in summer. I worked for wattle paints as a tech rep a few years back and have seen a salt spray test of most anti rust proucts and wax is by far the best. its around under a few names the best one is made by wurth however one of the best was made by motorspray and it was the cheapest at the time. and best of all no shit smell from cavity wax hope this helps someone cheers andrew |

no sorry mate ive been out of the trade for a few years all wurth stuff is in german.anyone who deals in wurth products should be albe to help you. id chase up the motorspray one if I was you, I use it myself it really is good.buy a deadner gun and you can use the 1lt/4lt trade tins. The guns are good for lots of thing deadner, sealers ,degreaser and stoneguard and usually sell for around $ 40 - 50. K&H also made a faily good one. even pariffin wax alone is exellent for rust prevention. |

i just went on the motospray (hichem) website and i couldn't find any listings for cavity wax they list a rust converter, rust be gone and fish oil |

100% it is available ive used some in the last month. go to an auto paint store, they will all have some in one brand or another. dont stress to much about the brand they are all good if its a brand name. with cavity wax more is better , plow it in and let it soak in,put paper or a bucket under drain holes as it will run out for a good 1/2 hour.If you use a bucket you can reuse what runs out ,just sive out any shit. after it drains out make sure your drain holes are not blocked up particularly on doors as if you dont they will fill with water.clean up with kero or prepsol(wax and grease remover) it wont hurt paint so to town.the whole underneath of all my cars are done in it.DONT SPRAY EXHAUST AS IT BURNS PRETTY GOOD. cheers andrew |

I have a body deadner gun somewhere around here from when I restored an old Beemer a few years ago. Will have to dig it out and get some motorvation to give it a go. My Sierra is suprisingly rust free after all these years and I'd like to keep it that way.
