I need to take a few Cv's off some axles as I am getting some heat treated and ringed by Yuri in Toowoomba.
Is there a secret to taking them off?
I mucked around after work today with an old rooted cv and got it off.
I rapped a rag around the cv and a few quick hits with a hammer and it poped off. Is there a proper way to take them off? Not real keen on bashing a good cv with a hammer. I guess I could rap a rag around CV and hit the cv with a block of wood.
Any thoughts?

tzar had a good method of using a long bit of tube, slide the axle inside it and drop it vertically on to the ground (concrete). The idea was to pop the top off end of the axle. (although it didn;t work at the time , i could see how it would be good)
have you talked to Mick Garner about it? Could save you some dollars.
