Post subject:  bolt on, bolt off winch.
i have a 92 sierra and am looking at getting a winch 4 it. i have bin told that u can get a bolt on, bolt off winch that just has 2 pins that fall in2 a slot in your front or rear bars. does any1 no any info about these or where i can get 1???

i have seen a few winches mounted to a cradle that slips into a tow hitch receiver, nothing on pins though. they are heavy things and i recon the
only thing worse then a hand winch would be trying to fit a heavy winch when you are up to ya nuts in glop.

you can get winch cradles that fit into a hayman reece style towbar reciever

I considered setting up a cradle for a winch with hayman reece type shaft, and putting the receivers in front and rear bar.

The only two benefits I can forsee is being able to leave at home when on tarmac, and being able to winch from front or back, as needed.

45kgs or so, so a bit of a gut buster to maneouvre.
Pre fitting prior to getting yourself in trouble that needs it, is likely to snap it off.

In theory they are solid options, in practice as Shep mentioned, it would most likely suck azz.

What about those times you're on a steep hill that's covered in wet clay. You struggle enough trying to just walk up it, let alone carrying a massive amount of weight and trying to put it into position on your vehicle. What about, when you're stuck and the place it clips in, is pressed up against a ledge or step of some sort and your can't even phyisically put it into place.

When your stuck and need to be winched, very rarely is it going to be in a nice situation, where lugging a cradeled winch around and sticking it on a vehicle is going to be easy or practicable.

X2 Been there done that on my cruiser couldn't even get to the recovery points without digging. :oops:

I have also seen a similar setup that uses the receiver hitch AND a pin on either side of it... Just can't find a pic now. :oops:

a removibal one would be great for wheni go to work as i would be a real load off my mind just remember a which counts a as a valuable to and u cant hide that one
