Hey all I have 3" efs springs in the rear and 2" efs rears in the front!

Have played around the front and get it working pretty well but now comes time for the rears!

The rear is sitting a bit higher then the front so I'm looking to even it out a bit and also getting it flexing better....

Am I best to take a long leaf out or all the little ones?

I am leaving the load spring in as I have bent a set of ome rear springs a year or so ago not running a load spring!

All help and thoughts is appreciated!

Ah also I have draws in the back that always full of my tools and spares and stuff... I'm guessing this all up may way 100-150kgs... Then every now and then the swag and esky is chucked in!

Cheers

It's really a suck in and see exercise. If you want, you can use a leaf spring calculator to work out your current spring rate and what it will end up with various leaves pulled, but in short, I wouldn't remove the longest leaf/leaves, and removing the shortest makes the spring too likely to wrap up under power. That normally means the third leaf (counting from the main leaf downwards on a 4 spring pack) is the one to go.

It's always going to be an experiment though.

Steve.

If you take the center pin out of the leaves (the one that clamps them together) you'll notice there's a leaf in there (in the middle somewhere) with more arc in it than the others... Start by taking that one out.

Leaving the shortest spring in the pack tends to promote spring wrap in my experience. The ends that leaf seem to offer localized stress points for the longer leafs in the pack and as a result, wrap is promoted at that point. Longest life out of any of my custom packs have been when the shorter leafs in the pack are long enough to support the majority of the leaf above them.
