| Post subject: | How to trim a Jimny front bumper? |
Hey guys! Bit of a basic one - but I am looking to trim down my front bumper shortly to make way for my new tyres etc. I have my grinder, cutting disc, and design all ready to go. However I'm just not quite 100% sure what you guys have done behind the bumper? Eg - the black guard in the wheel arch, does that just get taken out? I read a little about a light steel bracket in there? And help (photos especially) would be great! Thanks heaps as always guys. Scott |

The black wheel well lining can be removed easily by carefully removing all the plastic clips, a little jiggle and it'll probably just drop out. Before you remove it, mark it where you want to cut it. Once cut put it back in. I used a jig saw to cut mine. Grinder may melt the paint… or may not. I used masking take to experiment with cut lines before committing. Remember you can always take more off but you can't put it back on. Show us pics once you're done. |

How'd I know you would be the first to comment? Haha. So the black lining goes back in? It doesn't just get left out? From the few images I could find, it seemed as though a few people just left it out... In regards to styling - I was thinking of something similar to how you used to have it, dropping down before the foglight hole almost vertically. Will definitely get pics up as soon as I can get it done. |

 If you do a guard/flare chop it can't be put back in. When you remove the drivers side you'll see that it protects a vacuum cylinder and the air intake. Also on gravel, stones will be hitting the inner side of your guards risking dents from the inside out. When you mark your cuts keep in mind the lower screw that joins the bumper wing to the guard, best to keep these intact so it doesn't flop about. |
