Post subject:  Help with jimny parts identification

Hey all I have been offered these jimny parts and want to know exactly what they are....

The car they came out of was a project car and was on 33s back before I was 18 so at least 7 years ago!!! We're all running fine when they got ripped out but have been sitting all that time.... All openings have tape and everything over them!

This is obviously a transfer case.... Are they all the same?

This is an auto box? Do all jimnys run the same auto? Is it possible to bolt this in my sierra?

Also what would they be worth? Thanks in advance for any info!

Hey,

Jimny tansfers differ amoungst the years with there gearing. Both auto's and manuals are chain driven but the auto chain is alot thinner from what i have been told. The auto, im not to sure. Jimnys have a split gearbox and transfer with a small prop shaft between the 2 so my guess would be it is out of a vitara or something similar.

that isnt a jimny auto, its a vitara gearbox. and it doesnt look like an auto either its a manual as it has holes for 2 gear sticks. if it is in good condition its worth maybe $200
just looks like a standard early jimny transfercase.

Yeah, it's a vitara manual. The bellhousing patterns differ.

Pretty sure coz it's got a stick the transfer will be 1.32 high and 2.145 low. Could be a coily transfer also?

Jimny auto transfers do have a smaller chain, but only 5mm. Makes them uninterchangable as far as internals are concerned, but not unusable in this situation. The only differences would be year models as far as stick shift or push button (this one obviously being stick shift 99-05ish) and the ratios like you said :)

Umm you can see the clutch lever on the side of the bell housing. Not sure we're the confusion came from.
