Hey guys im about to buy a weber for my sierra but my friend said that the guy on eBay isn't very nice lol.So does anyone know of someone else that sells them a bit closer to brissie?

I have never played with them, I looked abit into it though when i had my 1.3.

Are you getting a new lot or playing with them?

Webers came out a few cars as standard. Falcons, Escorts

thats easy, go to a suzuki wrecker and ask for a vitara carby.

My current carby is playing up and i have to swap my leads over to backfire crap out of it, It never starts i have to put my hand over the inlet to choke it so fuel sucks it, choke mechanism isnt working. it pretty much needs a rebuild and im after some more power for these 31's but not too much i want to keep my diffs :roll: so ive decided to pay an extra hundred or so and get a weber instead of rebuilding.

I may just use a vitara carburettor as joe said but ill do some more research

fix the carby you have now and save your cash so you can sort out
your gearing. gearing gives you power, webbers just drink fuel.

the only reason webers drink fuel is coz your more tempted to put ya foot down to use the extra power they give. They are not the best off road but if done right will equal the stock carby in most conditions.

in reality there is only 1 thing that will wear on a carby to effect it and thats the spindle shaft, but chances are that is fine

sounds like you have shit in your tank, unless you fix that a weber isnt going to help you at all really

gypsy on here has done a bit of work to his 1.3 with a cam and stuff and rejetted the stock carby and reckons it flies so the good old stocker carb has a bit of room in it

Ive heard you can easily mod them to work well at steep angles so after that shouldn't be too bad off road. But if you guys think i should go down another path then ill do that

sierra carbs well................seen to many pack it in, and frankly they are not the easiest thing to pull down and re-build. once they have a problem, and you think you have fixed it, it will come back.

webers, well, what can i say?....they are made from crap material, are ugly, have no fuel cut-off solenoid and will need tuning on a regular basis. been there, done that, hot-rodded it, was crap!

ahhhh.....the vit 1.6 carby. was the only carby that i would chuck on (not only myself but customers) and not have to worry about going ape shit on the customising. uses the same stud pattern, with a small adaptor will use the same hat and once fitted looks like factory. they are made by mikuni.....they make awesome carbies!

all depends which road you want to go down.

the i have a weber and are allways messing with it...........

or i have a factory vit carby and i drive and its ace and when i'm on angles its ace and my stock hat fits its ace and cops can't tell the difference its ace and with some minor hot-rodding of the secondary linkages it FREAKIN GOES ACE, and it came off another suzuki...........

I've had a few Webbers in my time and they are a good thing (if you like retuning them when ever the weather changes ) but ive never been fond of them off road. Yes you can mod them but the Vit carb standard shits all over them and there easier to fit..

I also was running a weber on my stocko 1.3 untill a month or so ago.. Like everyone is saying, there are good points and bad. It did make the old motor alot more "responsive" and improved the overall power quite a bit. Off road was a pain the bum, but only on the silly angles. I did look into modding it so it wouldnt fuel up while on the silly angles.. but didnt get very far!! Pretty sure low range etc sell parts to help the prob.. but overall i didnt mind it at all :)

alright yeah ill go down to the 4x4 wreckers and have a look at the vitara carbies, hopefully they are in good nic. I used to have a g16a vitara and it was more sluggish than a g13a sierra, so not too sure what the go is there but ill find out, Im assuming it will have to be rejetted for a 1.3 instead of 1.6 correct?

another bolt on option is a corolla carby. None of the annoying polution gear and is basically the same as the sierra carby but with bigger jets. Mine works a treat on and off road. Not as powerfull as the weber but close.

yea i had a webber on my vit 1.6, forever tuning it,some days runs sweet,others not so good,and as for fuel....well wave it good bye when you put ur pedal to the metal... i have herd vit carb is the way to go...or just go injection...anything is possible...just need lota $$$$ anyone wanna throw some my way... :lol: :lol: :lol:

ive heard of a 34/34 but i thought that was too big, most of them are 32/36 though.

32/36 is the most common and jetted right you can have good economy on the primary side and power on the secondary side (although economy goes out the window on secondaries, but jetted correctly you dont really need to use it)
I run a 38 on my 1600 its a syncro so both throats open together.
You can get both from wreckers of escorts, capri,s etc but Ive heard to stay away from the 34 as its a solex (weber copy)
Webers can be made to run on angles search and you will find heaps of info but dont use a regulator you the bypass method for a more stable fuel delivery.
And not to start an argument but why would you "always" have to tune a weber? How does a carb go "out of tune"?
I never run chokes on my webers and I can leave my zuk sit for months and give it a pump on the accelerator turn the key and it fires up and idles away nicely.
