What is everyones opinion of the Rocklobster set up Vs putting a WT Tcase into a Jimny and doing 4.15 or 5.16 Gearings to run 31's? Also what are your opinions on the Jimny Auto Vs a Vitara Auto (assuming it will go in and mate up to either of those 2 options)

A rock lobster (4.16) is in a sierra case. And 5.16s will be too low for 31s and highway speed. And without adapters and new gearbox mounts it won't boot up sorry.

Really 5:16's too low for hwy use on 31"s ?

Same everything else tho pezz,

My RPM at 100kph is 4100. With 1L tcase highrange. Any lower would rev too hard on the freeway. I have essentially a sierra Gbox, 1L highrange and 4.1 diffs.

Mseries with VVT do, non VVT are different again, a auto jimny tcase is different to manual one. There are a heap of differences in the newer models but his and mine are essentially fancy sierras haha

Having gone from 1ltr case to 6:5's myself there really is bugger all difference between the two on road they seem to rev very similar at hwy speeds

I already bought a WT Tcase but cant remember which one it is (currently on a trip round Oz so everything is in storage at the moment) and I was just going to put that in with some low range gearing. I wanted to keep the high range gears roughly the same its sitting really nice on the hwy @ 110 sitting round 3800rpm. I thought from what I had read - although maybe ive got it wrong - that the rocklobster box did not lower the high range gearing just the low range around 80%? so that is why I was thinking of going with that. I am going to change from the 5 speed box to an auto one as well and try fitting a lockt up kit in it (gives 100% engine braking on autos) and was also curious if a vitara box was stronger and also if it was fairly straight forward to put that in, otherwise I am happy to put in a jimny one. Also have the full float rear and a set of joes axle upgrades ready to go in when I get back too so I am hoping the drive train will be fairly strong. Just need to source the GV hubs and stubs, and some nissan (i think Pintara?) brake assemblies.

Really not all that switched on when it comes to the gearing side of things just want it to crawl better to hit some rock steps in the watagans that stumped me last time but as I said I like how it drives on the hwy at the moment as well.
