Hi guys,

New member here, from the UK.

Seems to be a lot of knowledge here, so Im hoping that I can get some good advice!

Ive got a Jimny rolling chassis, and want to build a drive train to power it, and then swap on my old Samurai bodywork so she looks nice and retro!

This truck is for offroading 'trials' competitions, so Im looking for straightforward, reliable solutions.

To the chase:

Im looking at buying a salvage 1.5 VVT out of an Ignis Sport, bolting on a Jimny automatic gearbox and transfer case.

How would I get this combination up and running? Im guessing that the Ignis ECU will run the engine whatever its fitted in, but what does the transmission require?

Any and all advice greatfully recieved.

Stu

I wouldn't describe that setup as straightforward or reliable.

The jimny auto is at the limit of its torque handling capacity at 110Nm. They run very hot and are very expensive. Not a good candidate for a trials car in my opinion.

I would have thought with an ignis m15 you'd have to deal with immobiliser too, and find a raft of north south accessories. (Sump, accessory brackets etc)

I would run a baleno g16b into a carby vitara three speed auto for a comp car like you describe.

Steve.
