Post subject:  Vitara rear tow hook

I recently removed one of my rear tow hooks (regular kind from Supercheap) off my troopy, hoping to fit it to the rear of my 93 Vitara. There's 2 threaded holes in the Vitara chassis, but they're about double the spacing between them than the towhook from the troopy.

Any idea where to get a towhook to suit, or is it easier to have one manufactured?

they are the towbar mounts and to fit anything to it you would have to fabricate it

having said that, I dont know if 1 side would be strong enough, I would be inclined to have a thick plate on teh other side to help spread the load and stop the chassis rail tearing

fair call - anyone care to explain how they've added recovery points to the rear of their Vitara?

I reckon most people would use a towbar, not perfect but normally ok to get pulled from (generally avoid recovering anyone heavier than you)

also helps to protect the tank a bit
