I use tiny motorbike fuel filters. The bronze or plastic caps are pretty but they're not really necessary. Steve. |

i have a supercheap auto filter up behind my battery. you can get them with a outlet/ inlet ize thet suits the pipe your using and hose clamp it on. alternatively you could put a metal tube to suit your breather pipe through the airbox, and let it breathe through the inlet of the air box (not the inlet side to the engine) if yu have a snorkel. |

Look for pneumatic mufflers or silencers. I run ones like these, purchased from Pirtek.  But there are lots of different designs.

Steve. motorbike fuel filters, with alloy valve caps for extra bling... the valve caps have been drilled to allow the diff to breath.  and in saying that i haven't bothered swapping them into my LWB vitara, the factory diff & gearbox breathers are all tucked up nice & high, the rear diff goes up to the LHS tail light, the gearbag & transfer run up the top of the gearbox & up the bell housing to the back of the engine & the front diff comes up to radiator height. |

Them three letters are justification aaaalllllllll by themselves - my question is this - that looks like an SQ series GV engine bay, I would have thought on that vehicle the OE breathers were more than adequate - there's certainly no improvement with that ARB contraption. Oh sorry - uhh - since you have money to spend, might as well get ARB |

^  This is ARB right, 90% mark up is nothing. Let's be kind and say that actually cost them $25 to get that $2 part from china. $25 x 300% mark up = $75 To answer the OPs question, I use the same filter as Jezza but mine is mounted on the fire wall above the bell housing. |

I sincerely hope you are right, because I haven't got any breathers yet and just lately I have gone through some 'puddles' that turned out to be almost deep enough to swallow my car. I was only in any of them for about 8 seconds so I'm not sure if I should worry. |

have a read of what info has been posted. i'm pretty sure they didn't get the decent diff breathers like the vitara's & grand vitara's just the shitty breather caps on the gearbox, diffs & transfer. |

Scales wrote an easy how to guide here. I did mine pretty much like this, was cheap and easy. The little caps pull off easy with pliers or a screwdriver. |

I use my engine air filter. 4 connectors in the side of the air box, so that makes the intake at roof height. |

Im not some snobby person im just trying to help a fellow auszooker out isnt that what this hole site is about help people giving them differentoptions on things ,not bagging everyone out, just relax. |

Use fuel hose, or garden hose depending on level of tightarseness. Top with a fuel filter. Personally I made an air box for it out of a plastic container. |

Ok - I like to play the devil's advocate - and please note, like you, I'm offering people a different option. Correct me if I'm wrong - your $75 bought you a plastic ARB filter housing with a foam cartridge mounted to a 4-1 billet aluminum manifold, and some poly hose to connect to the diffs. You wanted a neater option than four big bike filters? How about an "off the shelf" plastic manifold and one bike filter?  Here's a pretty picture I snitched off of ebay - you can get them for under $5 Also, please, PLEASE tell me that your GV is equipped with a snorkel - because if it's not your engine is going to hydrolock long before the water gets near the OE diff breathers - the lowest breather is the front axle, and the intake is lower than that. Anyway you twist & turn it, on a GV, that $75 bought unnecessary bling - and even on a Jimny where extensions might be necessary, there are less blingy - uhh - I mean less expensive ways to achieve a neat installation. |

I brought one of the machined alloy blocks with the pnuematic filters shown above and 'click' fitting for hose on the underside. Was $75 with all fittings and hose for diffs/gearboxs off ebay a couple years back. Why? because it was shiny and looks good in my engine bay.

I noticed a post above with a pic of sintered bronze filters. I just picked up a Jimny from one of the members on here for a friend. Since the friend has really nice nails part of my lucky task is getting it up to roadworthy for her. Both diffs have extended breathers with sintered bronze conical filters like the one in the pic below. The first task is replacing each and every axle seal. In the 4 fourbys I've owned not including my regular road cars I've never seen all axle seals gone at once. Is there the possibility that the sintered bronze filters still allow enough instantaneous pressure build up to cause the seals to fail? fO9BKGB5QjsO!~~_12.JPG)
