Hi,
I'm buying a Baleno with intentions of removing the G16B engine and mating it to my manual transmission Sierra.
I want to know if an automatic donor Baleno will work, or do I have to get a manual for some reason?
I want to use the ECU, harness and engine, etc from the donor. Is there any reason an automatic donor will not work?
Any experiences with this procedure??

The engine will work with your manual box with the adapter.

The ECU may be a different story if it also controls some of the auto box functions in the Baleno, I dont know. Someone else may have that answer.

Yeah, thats what I was concerned about. Does anyone know if the conversion can be done using automatic ECU and modified harness, or do I need to be chasing a manual transmission donor?

I think it will be Ok, but I can't be certain. Not sure if the auto baleno runs a different ecu that also controls the trans or not.

Would you need a spigot bearing to support the input shaft?

Yes. Flex plate and small spacer will need to be removed and spigot bearing and flywheel fitted
