Post subject:  Jimny Hubs and Steering Knuckle Help

Hi,

My Jimny is having a few issues. It is a early 2005 model. The front passenger hub is not disengaging properly resulting in some loud strange noises every now and then. I want to replace them with something brand new (dont want to be putting vitara hubs etc. on it, want it to be a straight bolt on kit). I have been told that AVM have hubs that bolt straight on. Has anyone done this to a Jimny before? What other brands are available?

Also, I have noticed grease on the passenger steering knuckle. I am lead to believe that they should be dry, and if not the a swivel hub rebuilt kit is needed. Is this true?

Thanks
Nick

I believe Kyzer Mattingley did a straight hub swap. I think they were AVM's.

Hub leak... Is it thick grease, or oily?

Its not runny, it just like normal grease.

Id say if its not moving its been for a swim after being overfilled with grease.
Rebuild it fully and propery was everything and you should be laughing.

Now that you mention it, it has been for a swim.
