Just bought a 6x4 box trailer which has 13inch wheels on Ford hubs!!.
Wanting to upgrade to 15 inch wheels
It has been suggested to me that Vitara rims are same pattern as Ford & will fit my Ford hubs ??
Can anybody advise please?
I own a 1996 Vitara G16B but its in storage & unable to check wheels myself.
Would be ideal if I had same tyres on trailer as tow vehicle
Thanks

They won't fit unless it's ford F100 stud pattern which I highly doubt.

change the trailer hubs over to f100, will be about 150 peso's depending on your axle.

The 2006 on Grand Vitara wheels will fit your trailer hubs (5 on 4 1/2"), but the pre 2005 GVs (and Vits and Sierras) are 5 on 5 1/2". The 2006 on GV are all 16 or 17 rims though, never had 15s as they won't clear the calipers.

If you do want 15 rims for the trailer, lots of Ford Falcon wheels to choose from in that size, as well as Ford Territory, Rav4, Honda, 2wd Hilux, etc.

But first, have a VERY close look at your trailer hubs. I don't think there were ever any 5 stud Ford wheels in 13 inch. The XK-XM Falcons had 13 inch wheels, but they were 4 stud. 13 inch 5 stud wheels are more likely to be FB-HG Holden (in the industry aka Velox Wheels). There is also a HQ Holden stud pattern, but that is larger.

FB-HG Holden 5 studs on 4 1/4" with 7/16" studs
Ford 5 studs on 4 1/2" with 1/2" studs
HQ Holden 5 studs on 4 3/4" with 7/16" studs

If you want F100 hubs to fit your 1996 Vitara wheels, these usually run "Ford" bearings, but if you have FB-HG hubs these run "Holden" Bearings. HQ hubs often run "Ford" bearings as these are heavier duty.

Thanks for the advice thats exactly the sort of advice I needed.
Will double check with local Tyrepower guy who measured my 13 in rims & positively confirm if Ford or Holden!!
Cheers
Dusty.

As far as I know XK-XM utes and vans had 5 stud wheels in 14 inch and all sedans and wagons ran 4 stud wheels which were 13 inch.

The exception to this is sedans/coupes etc with optional disc front brakes which all used 5 stud 14 inch wheels.

Maybe. I do recall many years ago taking the rims off a (believed to be original) XL/XM ute, and trying to fit them to a mates XA. 13"and didn't fit due to caliper clearance issues.

Have a vague memory of the upmarket models being factory fitted with 14" rims tho.

Visited two tyre outlets now for wheels to be inspected both say they are 13in 5 stud Ford pattern rims.
Apparently not too many of these rims around. Told I should fit 14in Ford rims, apparently more freely available.
