had a look under my jimny yesterday to find i had sprung a leak! only a small one but it looks like the oil is coming out where the drive shaft joins onto the transfer spraying the stuff all over the underside of my car. gave it a degrease today to make sure that is where the oil is coming from. just wondering would anyone know where i could find a exploded diagram for a jimny transfer gearbox on the internet. not sure if they change at all but its a sep 01 jimny one with two sticks (not the push button 4wd) thanx heaps ben |

from what you have described it is just the input/output shaft seal. the case doesn't need to be stripped to replace it. remove the drive shaft, remove the flange (on a sierra you need a 27mm socket and a bloody good rattle gun, not sure on the jimny though) then you will be able to prise the old seal out with a screwdriver and then fit the new one. |

as i said degreased around my transfer case last week and toped up the oil. (took 200ml) then left it for a wile to see where the leak was coming from. looks like its coming from "here" (see pic) its a pretty slow leak but does this look like its the input/output shaft seal you were talking about "mrw82"? thanx ben |
