| Post subject: | M15A Sierra Build |
Hi guys! I'm back again haha. but this time with a much more feasible build! I'm 99% certain i've got this all down pat, albeit a few questions. I plan on buying either a wrecked, un roadworthy or just all round holden cruze and ripping it to pieces. Build: 90ish model SWB soft top sierra body and chassis M15A non vvt motor (02-06 holden cruze) M15A non vvt computer (02-06 holden cruze) Custom Built dash with M15A cluster Long range fuel tank with M15A fuel line and motor replicated M13A Manual Gearbox non vvt (01-04 Jimny) EDIT: I originally had the wrong information from a piece of shit site that gave me the wrong gear ratios. G13A Transfer with 4.9 gears Most Likely M13A Sump Stock Sierra diff. everything else stock sierra with all of this put together it works out that i'll be pumping out 3800 rpm doing 110 km/h with 31" tyres. Completely stock Holden Cruze would be doing 3200 rpm to achieve 110 km/h. so I recon that's pretty damn sweet haha! Question time! 1: Is this all Correct? I used a calculator that madmacca linked me to. which works fucking magically!! http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html 2. Ive planned to use VL engine mounts? yay or nay? also the gearbox and tranny mounts i was gonna tackle when i got to it?? probably fab something custom 3. would I be better to use the M15A clutch and flywheel or the M13A? 4. Would it be worth getting a heavy duty clutch? I won't be doing rock climbing or anything, more of a casual exploring type 4wding. I think that's it for now!! all your opinions and advice would be awesome too! Cheers guys, Jimmey. Your low range will suck with 31 and stock tc wont it |

got_bar_work wrote: Your low range will suck with 31 and stock tc wont it yeah it'd be average, but not to bad. low is 2.643. first gear low range at 3000rpm will be about 12 km/h. im not to much into crazy rock crawling, more exploring beaten trucks, deep ruts and steep hill climbs. so it should be pretty sweet for me. if I ever get the shit with it I can always go with a sierra tranny and puts some 4.9 or something in it, although that'll hurt my highway driving haha. |

Non-VVT and VVT Jimny gearboxes are completely different and they do have very different ratios. Non-VVT is very similar to a 1.3l Sierra gearbox and has the same ratios as an SJ70/80. VVT gearbox has the ratios listed in your link. You want the pre VVT gearbox for 2 reasons. 1. You can actually gear it to work in a Sierra. 2. Because the 2 are very similar, you can actually combine the 2 gearboxes giving you a Sierra length M gearbox with a toploader and Sierra gearbox mounts. This is what Suzistore did when they did their conversion. With the above gearbox you can use the stock Sierra transfer (which is stronger, has good gearing options and needs no work to fit) and get 3400 rpm@110. And yes, you'l want the Jimny sump and all the other Jimny bits you'd normally swap over when you do a conversion in one. |

2 Sierra Builds that come to mind are Jazzor's rigs, You may be able to glean some info out of his build threads. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14345&hilit=jazzor viewtopic.php?f=4&t=39872&hilit=jazzor |

EDIT: I found a site with the correct Specs for a m13a non vvt, specifically jimnys from 2001-2004. http://www.cars-data.com/en/suzuki-jimn ... pecs/47060 greenzook89 wrote: 2 Sierra Builds that come to mind are Jazzor's rigs, You may be able to glean some info out of his build threads. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14345&hilit=jazzor viewtopic.php?f=4&t=39872&hilit=jazzor cheers man! i'll give them a read through now |

With a non-vvt box, going into a seirra transfer with 3.7 diffs on 31's your gearing with suck. You will want at least 4.09s sierra t-case. Jimny t-case's belong in the bin |

I'm not to fussed about the low range until I finish the build and take it for a run. with 3.7 diffs and sierra t case with 31's it sits about 3850 rmp @ 110 km/h |

In my old jimny I had a non-vvt box, 4.09 diffs, 4.16s tcase gears (Sierra transfer) and 31s. It sat 4000rpm@100kph which was sweet and low range was spot on. Any taller and it would of been crap |
