Hi all. I am currently living in Canada and loving it. But after missing zook life from back in oz after 12 months I have a decided on getting a Jimny sent from japan (importing to canada) so I will be flying the flag high for the auszookers crew as Jimnys were not available in the North American market. Can't wait to get the odd ball and curious looks from the local folk I need some assistance though and hoping someone on here can quickly slap a tape measure over there standard Jimny Hood for me. I just need total width and length of 1998-2005 shape to check something before it arrives middle of next month. It would be much appreciated. Dave |

if you get rid of those decals, you need to ban yourself from here. ![]() the headlight treatment is a bit oh and the bonnets look visually the same when checking points like where the guard, headlight, bonnet meet & the back corner by the A pillar looks the same. |

Haha don't worry I intended the keep the graphics on there as long as they are in good shape. I think they most likely should be (fingers crossed) as the car only has 70,000kms on it. As for the headlight styling. Agreed. But would you believe a lot of the ones I was bidding on had the same thing. I don't know if it's some type of factory styling in Japan or just crazy Japanese styling. Who knows. Yeh I had a pic of a standard bonnet underside (can't find it now) and they look to have a lot of similarities. I would love to know for certain but the only way I will truly find out is taking the punt and forking out for a jb23w hood and hoping for the best. But if this is a bolt on mod it could be an option for you guys back home who dare to be different or who want to try and be 2014 jimny wannabes

My measurements were a bit "give'n'take" and the height I gave wasn't including the slope of the bonnet. I'd put money on a bet that the bonnets will match. I think up until the latest update the front clip has been consistent and the only variations has been in the grill options on some of the Japanese models. Those headlight trims are just add ons, wouldn't imagine they'd be hard to remove. |

thanks Zukenutter. I think between the 'give and take measurements' from both parties may just be the reason for the slight discrepancies. I'm not to concerned with the height. As the 600cc hood with the scoop should be (in theory) higher then the 1.3l hood anyhow so that seems to check out. I'm feeling 95% confident that it will be a straight swap out. I think I'm going to throw the dice and grab a bonnet to be sent out also. Watermouse. To be honest the Canadian import laws are so much more relaxed then back home. The only condition is the car must be at least 15 years to the day when it lands at Canadian customs. All cars in the province of Alberta (and most others I think) that are classified as a 'grey import' do not require conversion to left hand drive. I wouldn't attempt to go down the road of a lhd conversion on a car only worth a few thousand dollars. Imports / rhd cars are becoming pretty popular here and i regular see the odd right hand drive getting around. The main condition is must be at least 15 years old. But things like the r34 gtr recently celbrated it's 15th birthday I would of been inclined to get a m13a type jimny but was limited to a g series due to the 15 year rule so can currently import up to a 1999 model. It was a very tough decision on deciding on another leafy Sierra or a jimny but opted for the jimny hoping for a little bit more reliability. It's a bit more 'car' then the Sierra, especially considering it will occasionally be getting around in -35 degrees! I would of loved a Sierra though as the parts available here is pretty good as lowrangeoffroad.com shop is only about 12 hour drive away from where I live. so this is my first jimny. The whole thing that got me looking at imports was the fact that samurais (Sierras) and sidekicks / trackers (vitaras) here are just absolute rust buckets (winters are incredibly harsh on cars espec with all the salt on the roads) and are way over priced. I'm talking like 8k for a rusted 25 year old Sierra |

Don't forget to share pics when it arrives. There'll be a certain cool factor about having a Jimny over there, the Samurai guys will go nuts. |

I think greenzook89 is right. It looks like a grounding kit. Def good for an extra 20 horses Graphicx. I seen theses models on eBay. What is the quality like? |

LOL, peter and his polarizer - I thought the Japanese would be smarter than that. |

What is the quality like? fairly ok, the upper shell is a pretty good replica, the lower bit is novelty, the kids love playing with it though but they broke the mirrors off. |

Just an update. I have proceeded with having a 660cc turbo hood imported into Canada to bolt up to my jimny. Fingers crossed it's a straight swap out. Will keep everyone posted |

On the back window was a sticker that said "Fat girls can't jump.....lift it" Some of the trucks here are just crazy overkill but the sticker made me laugh!! |
