So i just had my rear main seal replaced along with the clutch master and slave cyliders, clutch fork, pivot pin, Clutch industries clutch and bearings.

Trouble is i'm getting a slight pedal pulse whilst letting the clutch out, just before it completely takes up slack.
I had the flywheel machined also.
Surely the clutch was aligned properly and the flywheel machining nice and flat.
Could this be the throwout bearing not being installed correctly? Defective clutch?
The original clutch was worn but not that badly. Some of the grooves were close to flat.
Also the fork and pivot pin looked fine even though i replaced these also.

I've only been for a short 15km drive so hoping it comes right and the box doesn't have to be removed again.

Pedal pulsing goes as soon as all the clutch springs feel like they take up slack. Its just the initial halfway point, And in some cases a little more acceleration and its pretty much not there at all.
Also going down the gears say from third to fourth can be felt a little also until its fulling in gear.

Air in the line?

Pretty sure they run a fluid dampener on them like the sv's.

He said to give it a few weeks and bring it back if its still an issue.
It may be something i get used to but it also may be something wrong.
I'll mentioned a bleed to him however.

Sounds like the flywheel is out or the pressure plate is warped from not tightening up the bolts evenly

Sounds to me like the throw out bearing is a little dry on the snout of the gearbox. Not really a drama

No dampener on the line in the SQ series, and I'd say the pressure plate is suspect.

So i'm taking it back to the mechanic today.

It feels more like a shudder instead of a smooth firm engagement and i can't really feel that much pulsing through the pedal now.
Taking off in first or in reversed moreso and going down the gears from third to second is pretty shuddery on half clutch.
Also gassing on up a hill in 3rd and 4th is not a very smooth drive. Instead of smooth power its lunging back and forth slightly.

Really hoping the gearbox doesn't have to come out again. Either way i'm not happy with it.

Ive had the same issues with a clutch industries clutch several times before on a sq gv, use exedy and the problem goes away. unfortunate but its really not the mechanics fault and not yours either . ive used clutch industries clutches in a lot of cars no problem at all but it seems to be a issue with the pressure plate like fordem said. Of course CI wont admit theres a problem , and unfortunately your mechanic wont want to swap out the clutch without charging labour so its a rock and a hard place situation. even when doing a warranty claim against a manufacturer as a workshop they are reluctant to pay for your time so it makes it very difficult.

Shudder can be high points in the friction material.havent had a issue with CI clutches but after a few 100k any high points would wear down evenly for smooth engagement. It also depends if its a HD clutch if it is, you need slightly higher revs than normal for smooth engagment. Apart from that like others said could be pressure plate.

Should try my clutch shudders like a B*#*# in reverse, but well i expected that. And everyone can

Wish I did a bit more research now.
Mind you I wouldn't have driven it 100k's.
I'm pretty certain it's not a HD clutch.
Should hear back today what's going on with it but at least I know so will probably go exedy next time.

Thankyou all and will let you know the outcome.

So just picked up the car.
Mechanic said there's no shudder and all seems fine.
I must admit it isn't bad so I'm just going to go along with what losfer and fordem said and put it down to the brand in general, tolerances or slight imperfections in build quality.
It was never the smoothest car to drive to begin with anyway.
Thanks guys.
Should get to introducing myself and maybe starting a build thread also.

If this is with reference to your particular vehicle - I can accept it, but as a criticism of the model in general - no.

From a powertrain point of view the GV is as smooth as any other vehicle I've driven - I run the 2.0 four cylinder and have no complaints, and I know the V6 is even smoother. The clutch in mine was replaced within the last year or so with an OE Suzuki part and the only difference has been the change in "engagement point" - as the clutch wears it drops lower & lower until it's all the way to the floor so when the clutch has been replaced it moves up higher.

Ridewise, on a smooth surface they are a joy to drive - on a broken or poorly finished road, they ride like the light truck that they are - I have OME on mine, and would describe the ride as somewhat firm, with almost "sport suspension" precision & handling.

I'm not criticizing the model at all and perhaps I was being too general.
It is a little bumpy in the rear on tassie back roads however no worse than a leaf sprung ute. Even better when loaded up.
In regards to engine and driveline smoothness, it is a little jerky when cold but otherwise I'm quite happy with it.
I did come from an '84 6 cyl Bmw so I just need to adapt a little more, and that's probably more so where my statement came from.
