Hey guys , Chasing some info looking on buying some more gear from Lowrange, i'm currently running 30 inch tyres , have a set of neg 50 procomps rims coming this week. Questions are what reduction gears should i go ? biggiest tyres i will be putting on are 31's in the future . And i was looking at cv / axles upgrades, been told that standard cv's wont handle those neg 50 offset procomps ? any advice would be good cheers  .

the wheel offset has no bearing on the cv strength. its the tyres size that will be the problem. chromos are cheap so you would be crazy not to use them though. I personally would go with 4.9 transfer gears but lots of people use 6.5s |

Yea didn't think the offset did i told the tyre fitter that he was trying tell me otherwise .. offset puts bit more stress on bearings correct?. Ya k cheers mate. |

Yes, increased offset adds leverage to everything. Steering kickback and weight will increase. Poor balance will effect the steering more and increase the likelihood of death wobble. Whilst the offset itself doesn't break CV's, it does lead to the front end being jammed at full lock more often when negotiating terrain and this adds to the risk of CV breakage - CV's are t their weakest when jammed hard at full lock, especially in reverse. Obviously from the pro comp website, you're looking at 15X8's - why so wide? 30's definitely don't want to be on an 8 and whilst it's OK, I'd ever run a 31 on an 8. The tyre doesn't hold the rim as well, and the rim is vulnerable to damage. Secondly, these rims are adding 87mm of width to the car on each side. That's a big loss of capability/manoeuvrability in my opinion. Yes, it's adding stability, but now you're forced into taking the same lines every one with bigger cars running bigger tyres have to take, so you've given up a lot of the suzuki advantage. I ran 30's on 15x7 -13 rims with 4.9 gears was a really good set up. But I much prefer how the tyres sit on my spare with is a 5.5 inch stock rim, just not off set enough to clear my springs on full lock and just a little narrow. |

i'm running 6 inch bushwacker flares thats why so wide didn't want spacers so just went with rims.. i will be putting bigger tryes on in the future just wearing out these 30 inch copper stt first. i'm aware that those tryes are not ideal on those rims but its only temporary so they will be fine for time being . thanks for info. |

It'll be even more backwards when the flares fall off and you can't find 6" wide flares that don't fall apart. Each to their own. It's not a setup I'd be happy with. Steve. |

They been on there for years bud haven't fallen off yet and I drive it hard. They are jeep flares easy to get a hold of. Each to there own . |

hi there new to forums, hey gwagensteve just wondering how to work out where my tyres will be sitting prepared to my flares?, I wanna get offset rims but not sure where they will end up? cheers |

Just google "tire fitment calculator" - you'll get heaps of hits where you can punch in your current setup and proposed wheels and tyres. Steve. |
