Just bought a 2013 jimny new and the aircon just isn't as cold as I think it should be. Definitely works, just not well. Is this a common thing? Cheers. |

take it to a A/C shop might just need re-gasing.... |

If it needs re-gasing then there is something wrong with it as in it has a leak. I have a 99 Lancer and it's still as cool at the day I took it out of the show room. |

I. Also have a new Jimny... The aircon is pretty average. While you are driving at cruising speed it should be cold though but it's only got a tiny compressor |

My brother has a recent jimny, the A/C is fairly cold but not the coldest I've been in. It works marginally better than my Sierra A/C. put it on resirc and spilt the flow between the face and the feet 4:1, one click clockwise form anticlockwise limit. use on blower speed 2 for best results. blower speed 3 and 4 push air through so quick it dosent get cold or remove the humidity |

jimny's with A/C on are waaaaayy too slow, put the windows down so you can impress all the skirts  but seriously my 03 is a little slack - fan needs to be on 2 before you even feel some cold. I only use mine on hill decents for the extra engine braking - and when I have whinging passengers. |

Lol, cheers for the responses. Thought it might be just a bit out of its league in the pilbara climate, but that's part of the whole zook charm I guess. First proper outing today an definitely a bit slower than I had hoped on the open road but it was pretty blowy today an I've got a roof basket and awning on so no surprises there. I'm guessing the 31" 215 muddies don't exactly help either. Lol. Anyone hazard a guess bout what sort of gains I could expect from some simple mods eg extractors and high flow filter? Don't really want to engine swap or turbo or anything just need a little bit more! Lol, famous last words I know.

I worked as an a/c tech. Slower fan speeds allow more time for air to be cooled. Recirc is a must, as you are just cooling the cabin air not trying to cool the hot fresh air from outside. Heater tap bleed by should be fixed for best performance. Some vehicle don't have a heater tap, just a flap that closes off air flow through the heater core. I haven't worked on a Jimny, so I'm not sure about the setup. Have a crawl under the dash. Ensure that all of the foam packing, that seals the evaporator box and ducting, is in place. Most modern cars have pollen filters in the a/c ducting, like a paper air filter, that can get blocked and reduce efficiency. A/c has either a thermostat, a variable resister like a volume nob, or a thermistor. Thermostat can be adjusted to achieve lower temp by turning the nob (when you find it) A thermistor is a small sensor that is jammed into the fins of the evaporator. It's position in the evap dictates how cool your a/c will get. Disassembly of the evap box is required. (Not rocket science, just be careful) Running a/c too cool can cause evap to ice up and you loose cool air until the ice melts. Test a/c by putting a thermometer in the vent. Fan speed one, recirc, driving. (Air flow over condenser) You should see at least 15c lower than outside air temp. Modern systems run r134a gas (greenhouse friendly) but does not get a cool as r12 in the old systems (pre '93 ish) |

Tint your windows with a quality heat rejection film get some insulation into the roof get some insulation into the firewall and floor think about getting into the side panels and doors. Youll be wasting a heap of energy re cooling all the heat coming in |

Extractors without heat shielding or good ceramic wrap will heat your firewall too fyi. The extractors wont help much without a exhaust system behind them. Engine swaps for a M15 is the best way to get more power. A snorkel with a ram duct is a good idea, a pod filter or K&N oiled filter is going to put all that pilbra dust right through your motor. Stick to paper. If you want more flow (not that the paper stock one is overly restrictive) put in a bigger filter box and bigger paper filter combo. Gearing the car will bump the revs up and for 30" s I think the trial jimny 24% reduction gears will give the lowest rpm and the highest top speed. Other side of the coin is a M18 swap that gives a extra 40 hp and is so torquay, gearing isnt really needed to go quick but still desireable for crawling on rocks and not geting burried in sand with wheel spin. |

I thought the ac in my 2013 jimny was shit as well but seems to work a lot better now then when new. 10% window tinting made a massive difference. |
