This is my first go at modifying a sierra. The stock carb was no good so dual drafts and manifold was found.
Tuned and running well.

Will be needing air cleaners. Brake booster in the road

Looks cool. Got video of it running?

How are you going to solve the brake booster issue?

Yep have video, will try to put it on.
About the booster, might get a setup from van that has the booster connected to the pedal under the dash, or can get some air cleaners with 45 angle.

That's cool as, where did you get the manifold from?

I think redline or lynx used to make a manifold. I was very close to running the same setup back in the day but as a poor uni student I chose food and a weber 32/36 as a cheaper compromise....

Found it on eBay with carbs for 700 buy it now, cheap as, runs nice, not sure about angles yet because I need to put air cleaners before I go bush.

Are the throats of the carbs directly in-line with or slightly under the booster?

My duel webbers are the bane of my existence, same issue, brake booster in the way.

What are these 45 degree air filters you talk of ?

Looking into putting the brake booster underneath, like hot rodders do, but different airfilters far more cheaper.

The rear trumpet sits between the 2 brake lines , had to bend the rear one to get the trumpet on. Have driven it like this few times on the road but not bush.
Pro carb at taree nsw said they might have some air cleaners motorbike style that come up on an angle,
Does anyone know if a 1 litre brake will work with disc brake as they don't have booster

you can get angle trumpets that you can run filter sox on or why not build an air box like the 20v 4age. search the google if you're not sure what i'm talking about.

Have you done anything over stock with these, extractors, bigger ignition, played with the timing ?

I do like a set of carbs that are almost as large as the engine :D :D now if they were throttle bodies it would be perfect.

To take full advantage of the lovely big carbs, you really need to do some engine mods.

You are allowing more air in, you really need to allow more air out, extractors and a 2" system IMO is a must

You are allowing more fuel, IMO a bigger better ignition system, some here hate it, but i am a fan of MSD, stunning, more fuel, more spark, bigger spark plug gap, increase your initial timing.

I have set mine up, but so far only 38/38 carbs, its off the road at the mo, so no hurry, but it has a 3/4 race cam, head worked out to max, MSD 6AL2 with MSD coil, 1.5mm gap plugs and 16 degrees of initial timing, this will prob be a bit more when the big crabs go on, when she gets a full rebuild.

Gearing is stock, tyres are 33" Baja claws on 10" rims, goes really hard, up to about 90k she will keep up with my Brothers Discovery with a 4.6l Range Rover motor in it.

When i put the new diffs under her, with lower RnP and the big carbs, im hoping to stretch that 90k out further.

My car is all about speed, sand, desert type tracks.
