Any one used a ute/tub liner to coat the inside of their zook?

How did it turn out?
What brand did you use?
Cost?
Would you do it again?
-Or would you pay someone to do it for you?
Pictures?
What is the texture like?
What wouod you change if you could?
Did it do much for keep the sound out?

I did one with Upol and it is great and easy to use with the proper gun but not cheap - It cost me about $250 to do.

What is the texture like? Is it quite rough on bare skin?

You can see the texture in the picture and no it is not rough it is bumpy but you can thin it to spray smoother.

Most Auto paint shops will have it.

I could not find stuff anywhere and there was only one tin of this stuff I found at the last shop I went to which was a panel beating supply shop. You can order it online though as I thought I would order another one to do another coat however I did not need to.

It is rough on bare skin actually its not like rubber it goes like a hard plastic nearly so I have driven barefoot however it does get uncomfortable to do it for long. Its pretty rare to drive barefoot though I think overall it was worth is because I can hose out the interior and there is nowhere for water to get trapped unlike carpet or vinyl flooring which leads to rust.

If you did not want such a bumpy texture you could probably use a normal roller or brush I used the one that came with it to give it the rough texture.

Mine was done with the sound deadener you get in a tin from repco or paint shops. Mix it up with some metho? and spread it on with a big brush and it sets after a few days. The tight spots can be done with it in an aerosol can (or everywhere), it goes on awesomely thick but you go through the cans pretty fast.

It's all inside the bottom of the cab, the wheel arches, the tray and underneath in a few spots too.
Struggling to find a pic. Then covered the tray with rubber matting.


It protects the metal and makes it much easier to clean and not worry about the body metal as much. It definitely dampens some of the sound down. I didn't have this done in my first zook and it is definitely better than just bare metal.

went and spoke to someone at autobarn today about that, he said it doesn't ever really dry and stays kind of soft, or tacky, was the way he put it, is this true?

Yes - Until the dust sticks all over it and it gets a dull dirty look which is because it is dull and dirty.

I have used the cans from supercheap on my tray and inside the car and soo far seems to hold up ok I think if I did it agin I'd use raptor liner

If you want it to dry hard get epoxy ute bed liner like the upol raptor kit dries hard suited to inside use won't scratch or chip I have used it but unsure of the sound proofing but I can't see it not working it is expensive but easy to use and I think works really well. The soft none drying is under body deadener and is cheapyyyy we have all seen used and sometimes despised..


I plan on using the upol raptor epoxy ute liner inside in 2coats and use a professional quality under body liner which I think doesn't dry so it absorbs the stone chips along the way

22bucks a can at super cheap, was a two can job,
for the price its ok,
but if money isnt a factor, id go speedliner..
had it in my tj, it was great, will most likely get it in the jk

I've used the duplicolor bed liner stuff on the front footwells and it seems like it will hold up pretty well. It did take much longer to dry than the directions indicated. The aerosol can is quite handy.

You need to water it down with a lot of metho/turps? (what you normally water paint down with...) so its thinner and then it dries ok, if its too thick it does stay tacky, but it still does its job of protecting things. The stuff in the aerosol cans dries fine.
