Hi - I bought a TUK TUK in Thailand and it has a LJ50 engine - It needs some work to make it run right so I bought a workshop manual - 1974 vintage - it shows that engine with a downdraft carb but mine is a side draft - I saw some stuff about side drafts but I cannot find out what they were fitted to and from when how to get a repair kit etc can anyone help ?? Thanks.

SJ30s have a sidedraft carb, similar to the F10a carb IIRC.

The vans were side draft, ST10. I actually have the manual for one.
