| Post subject: | Jimny rear bar compatibility |
Howdy folks. Few months of Jimny action in and I am loving it. Still haven't figured out how to camp in it properly but I'm getting there! Arkpak in, old gear out...now.... I destroyed my rear wheel carrier because it was never designed to carry such a large wheel and I smashed it down forestry roads covered in large bluerock gravel for work every day for 2 weeks. Looking at the rear bar + wheel carrier in the link. Only problem is, it says 2007 onwards only. My Jimny is a 2005. I have a sliver of hope because I remember reading that the body shape did not change here from 2005 to 2012. Anybody got something similar on their car? Need to carry a spare! http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Jimny-re ... 63673.html |

Wouldn't quote me on this but i'd assume the design is the same, although makes me curious about the quality/legitimacy of the bar if it says 2007 onwards (Unless this is the year they designed the bar) don't think there have been any significant changes to the jimny since 05. I would definitely jump at the chance for a rear bar with a wheel carrier, and if possible a Jerry can holder!! but no one seems to make them in Aus (not a big enough market i guess) |

Bloke's explanation was that they have only been able to purchase modern Jimny in China since 2007. Would really love to pin this down before I waste a huge chunk of cash but not sure how. |

I'd be steering clear of that rear bar. If it's the same bar jezza86 has the quality of them is rather average especially for that price tag. I'd be looking at a off road armoury rear bar, then modifying it to have a rear wheel carrier |

as monley said, burn it with fire in short if you bought one, you would have to modify it so you could tow (nowhere to atach chains), reinforce it so it didnt bend (steel so thin on the wings i can bend them with my bare hands), then buy a new 50mm hitch to plug into the receiver (the one it comes with isnt ADR compliant) and a new tow ball (the one it comes with is 2" not 50mm). you will also need to figure out mudflaps and lights for your rear numberplate. while they go dancing off with your 1300 bucks... all up my bar cost me just over 2K once i got it sorted, not including shipping. do what natty did. get one made. |

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=32008&hilit=tourimny&start=90 just do something like this, china bars are rubbish. yes it looks like a sex crime, but it works. |
