It raises the idle speed when the lights are on.

Those are long bolts, the heads are on the top of the carby, the thread is on the manifold.

Sorry for hijack but i always wondered what that round thing(left of green light thing) sitting on back of manifold with the tube running out does?,seems the tube runs over to near thermostat & is heat opened/closed.

Its the egr
its switched on by a combo of engine temp and 4th and 5th gear iirc.
