Hey guys went away this weekend with my new jimnybits 50mm lift and 225/75/16 bfg km2s. I had some serious scrubbing issues on the rear end. My tyres were grabbing the front of the rear wheel arch and actually popped the clips and ripped the wheel arch and door trim off. So my question is has anyone trimmed the rear guards to suit bigger tyres?

You should be fine with those size tyres. Have you done the panhard relocation bracket aswell?

I can't see 225s scrubbing that bad in the rear?
This is mine with a 32 sitting in the guard. Second pic is where I cut the plastic on the rear doors.



What shocks are you running?

and on droop its no where near touching even with uber long shocks.

Yeah it's fine on droop but when it's compressed it grabs were the end of the sill and the guard join! It's ripped my tires to bits! And yes I have fitted a panhard relocation bracket. The car was heavily loaded and sagged in the rear a bit but that shouldn't have made any difference as it didn't scrub until it was nearly fully compressed.

ANY IDEAS??

I don't really want to fit a bump stop extension and loose upwards travel

The only other thing I could think of was that I have taken off my alloys and fitted steel wheels would the offset be any different??

It's absolutely the rims.. unless you mean stock GV steelies. What offset are they?

They are stock gv Steelies are they the same offset as gv alloys

I've got no difference in scrubbage between stock steel or alloy rims

Is it rubbing when flexed or when both wheels are compressed going over bumps etc? I presume it is the latter.
Bizarre either way, they normally rub on the rear of the guards/bumper well before they hit the front.

Can't remember if I had trimmed my green GVs guards at the front, will snap a photo in the morning if I had.
I've always run bumpstop spacers though so probably not a great comparison anyway.

It rubs when flexed I didn't hear it run both sides at once it just rubbed on the side that was compressed at the time? It looks like I could cut the plastic away and then gently tap the metal inner to bend it in and make some room but I don't really want to??

Just cut it! That pocket shits me all the time it fills with mud and crap and is a pain to wash out.
