This took me about 3 mins tops
and I used something I already had.
Don't have cutting compound just laying around

8-O Just don't ask what brand toothpaste works best

I did the toothpaste on some paper towel trick on a car i borrowed (the lights were so fogged they were useless at night!) - they cleaned up to about 80% of what they'd be new. When i returned it the owner was stoked.

Took me about 10mins per headlight though.

I recommend the cutting compound, it works really well for Gingivitis  , especially with a buffing wheel.
