Hi Guys,

Getting towards the end of my 1.6L conversion.
And I have a vacuum hose that I am not 100% sure what to do with.

The hose that the guy in this video is holding / blocking with thumb.
What does the plastic box / filter / valve do? I don't have it, do I need it?

I can see where the hose needs to go to on the air in-take, see the first pic:

But I just don't have the little plastic box thingo.

Can I run it direct without the device?
Or can I just block that hose off altogether perhaps?

Thanks Brad

Okay so I think its the IAC Filter, according to this diagram.

Is it absolutely critical?

Yes. It's the idle air control. Car won't idle properly without it.

Isn't it just connected to the air intake crossover pipe? pretty sure mine is.

*Edit* just seen the diagram, so now you know where it needs to go.

That black plastic box can be blanked out (I think it adds volume behind the afm, so it acts like a reservoir of air to somewhat reduce pressure pulses on the afm).

I clamped a small pvc end cap in place, but I have more piping than stock g16b setup.
