Gday, While checking the timing on my G13ba, my son and I come up with two completely different readings????? The problem was, he was sighting from the top of the engine straight down and I was looking through the centre of the timing marks to the centre of the crank? The timing marks are not straight on top of the crank pulley, but off to one side......about 11o'clock, so I assumed you need to sight from that angle, not straight over the top???? Can anyone tell me what is the correct angle as it makes a few degrees difference. I can do a drawing if it explains it better....... Cheers |

Looking front on, the marks on the pulley/timing gear point to the marks on the block/head |

Should I be sighting along line A or B? It makes a couple of degrees difference? Hairy wrote:

Also - isn't there a port on the transmission housing on the exhaust side where you can see markings on the flywheel? ...or is this just on the SJ413 5-speed transmission... Just curious - we don't have the cool stuff you have here in the Colonies... |
