So I have a trimatic torque converter that is full of some fucked oil and I need to get it cleaned out before it goes into the new replacement auto. Any ideas?? Soak in degreaser and drain a few times? |

Was watching extreme 4x4 on powerblock the other day and they just drilled a hole to drain then fitted a pop rivet. Never seen that one before so can't really say I'd recommend it. |

Plenty of youtube clips about this, but all I've seen show a process for flushing with the converter in place in the gearbox and fitted to the car. Basically idle the motor, and drain the hose to the external cooler while pouring new ATF in the filler. When the draining fluid looks new switch off and button up. |

I worked as a transmission builder for a Ford dealer for 4 years, definitely don't flush it in the car , best way is to drill a 1/4 hole in the back and flush with and evaporating solvent. Nothing blends with Auto fluid and will destroy the orings and clutch plates in the box eventually. Personally I would pay for a new/reco convertor |

Its metallic Sorry no link, can't even remember what else was in that episode so not much chance of finding it. Was just a matter of drilling a 3/16th hole in the outer of the TC near one of the flexplate mounting bosses and after draining fitting a blind rivet with a dob of rtv. |
