Hello, a newbie here, I'm in a spot of bother . My mate has a 1931 tiger moth aeroplane replica that has fitted a suzuki g13 b fuel injected double over head cam engine. It was rebuilt by suzuki performance qld 40 hrs ago and old owner claims no problems. First flight the oil filter came loose and broke the oil filter inlet adapter( not sure it's name?) lost oil pressure and dumped the sump oil. He shut it down instantly to avoid damaged and landed safely. He then had a new one made but had a slightly thicker one made ( inner diameter now slightly smaller) and after a small 1/2 hour flight lost oil pressure at idle and found oil coming out of the cam cover breather hose. He topped it up and did a flight of 40 mins loosing just a small amount of oil threw breather and againg oil pressure dropping to 10 at idle.He fitted a catch can to cam cover breather and went for a 1/2 hour but all was good no oil lost. Yesterday we were flying ( me in my ww1 rep) and after 1 hr he reported his engine over heating? He landed soon after and found the catch can with cam cover breather attached full of oil and sump level down to 3/4.? I'm wondering ,if the oil filter inlet adapter is slightly smaller ,would the crank build extra pressure and push oil out the breather? Or maybe piston rings or piston hole? Will run the compression test tomorrow. Any ideas why oil would be lost threw crank ventilation? Thank you in advance. Diagnostics light flashes # ##. 1 -1.2. = 12. Normal ?

I have seen a number of anecdotal reports on Swift forums (your friend is using a Swift GT/i engine) of head gaskets on which the oil drain holes are improperly cut and partially block the drains, causing oil to accumulate in the valve cover.

Replaced PCV VALVE, did compression test today - dry= 190. 195. 188 200 Wet= 215,220,210,220
Ran engine for 20 mins all fine? Temp 80. Oil pressure 60 at 5000 rpm 20 at 1100 rpm. Engine runs smooth, no miss, no rattles, no surging nothing - runs like a dream ( for now) Will fly in next couple days and see?

That oil pressure looks within spec., as do the compression numbers, although the variation between 3 & 4 maybe on the edge of acceptable (I don't have access to my manuals right now), so the problem is unlikely to be blowby, it could however be slow drain back as mentioned previously - or - related to the way the engine is mounted, I am assuming it is at the same angle as it would be in the Swift - or - perhaps some sort of centrifugal force caused by the aircraft maneuvers - maybe a dry sump system is worth investigating.
