my brake drums are rubbing HARD on my backing plate. see attached picture, where shiny outer part wasnt previously shiny. the diff centres rebuilt, new HD axles with new bearings, what would cause this? its as though the axle is sitting too far in, or the backing plate too far out, but its not happening on the other side

There's a little spacer that goes on the axle before the bearing, The gold coloured bit. My guess is this has been forgotten.

shit. had a mate do it. guess i'll get new bearings and give him a call haha! off memory there was nothing in there other than bearing. cheers. aggravating because i've just put a gti motor in at the same time and cant test it out >.< |

If you have NT axles then spacer is required. If you have WT axles the spacer is built into the bearing. Your problem is a missing spacer OR a bearing fitted backwards. |
