I am in the process of making molds so I can cast side light body's and lenses - I would like views on weather I should keep the standard as in filament bulb or make LED ones as replacements while i am at it? Comments - sensible ones - are welcome. |

I'd go led, I'd like to get all my lights in an LED version, I have even tied to find LED 7" round headlights to fit in the old sockets but to no avail. |

Make it the same as stock, then people can use LED bulbs if they want to or keep it filament. Easy for you to do too. |

The problem is as soon as there is water in the cheep replacements they rust fast but the ones I made for my 413 is from a strip and completely water proof |

OK - I have done heaps of research on this and found that Bayonet 15 fittings and incandescent bulbs are already getting hard to get so have decided to go with a T20 type fitting as used in the Vits and a lot of more modern cars which you can get both Led and incandescent bulbs for and have a number of advantages. 1 - Readily available - Both bulbs and holders 2 - The holders are plastic so no rust jamming bulbs in like the old ones. 3 - Well sealed so should be far more water/mud proof 4 - Bulb can be changed from the back so the front lens can be sealed. I will post pictures as soon as I get the prototype finished. |

These fittings are freely available for Wedge bulbs or Bayonet and the bulbs are available as LED or filament so you can set them up any way you like - They have a good O ring type seal and you can change the bulb without having to remove the light |

There is a guy on Ebay with New genuine lights - at the bargain price of $114 each - That is only $912 for a set But that does not include a reversing light http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Brake-Tail-L ... 2a4a5ef0ad |

Hmm that is cheap...........not. We are zook people after all. I have some spare housings if you need some for moulding, I' d be interested in some side blinkers if you are doing them as well. |

While on the subject - I have a soft top body I was sold as a LJ50 (No front clip) and it is a little different to the others I have here as in the fact that the holes for the rear lights have 3 screws not 2 like all the others and there is no oblong hole for a reversing light so I am guessing it is a LJ80/81 tub and chassis. Any other way to tell IE Chassis No.???? |
