Hello everyone I'm new to this forum, i have a 1994 vitara 5 door efi with the g16b, I need to replace the engine it has a cracked block & head. I've been told I can use the baleno engine, some people say you can use the coil pack engine some say you can't? Help! I understand i need to change the cam & dizzy sum etc, from my current engine. Advice would be much appreciated, thankyou |

Yes you can use the Baleno motor. |

Yes you can use a baleno g16b to replace a vitara g16b Some issues you will/may have, along with swapping the sump, oil pickup and camshaft. Oil pump - baleno oil pump has hole for crank angle sensor, will need to be plugged or oil pump swapped out for a vit one. Oil pickup - the crankshaft bearing caps may be different, meaning you need to fiddle with the oil pickup to make it fit etc. May have to drill and tap a hole to support the vit pickup. Thats about all i can think of for now |

Thanks for the oil pump/pick up advice, I think the bell housing pattern will be the same.. I hope! |

I was concerned about the coil pack baleno motor as someone told me I need the dizzy baleno, as long as I can put my vitara cam and dizzy in a coil pack baleno head? I'd rather use a newer engine if that works |

Coil pack or dizzy baleno g16b doesnt matter. Plug the coil pack oil pump hole (jimbojones used a welch plug) or swap oil pumps over. |
