I have the vvt gearbox in my jimny and i am doing this sierra transfer swap. Do i need to get a non vvt gearbox from the m13a to do the swap or is it possible to keep the vvt gearbox in? Thanks. |

Best to swap to a non-vvt box if your swaping to a sierra transfer other wise you will end up 34%(IIRC?) reduction before you even fit lower gears to the sierra. What size tyres do you plan on running? |

Stock 1.3l transfer would be a 40.9% reduction. That would have no advantage over running an auto vvt transfer though(which has better ratios in high and low). Even 4.16s (the highest ratio sierra transfer gears) would be a stonking 58% reduction over a manual vvt jimny transfer. The pre vvt gearbox has a 13.5% overdrive on 5th gear so that's still a lot of reduction. It should be possible to fit the 0.794 5th gearset from a NT sierra gearbox into a pre vvt jimny gearbox which would be sweet for running transfer gears in a sierra transfer. Dunno if anyone has ever done it before though. |

It's got the 6.5:1 gears in it. My jimny is a 2000 model with 2000 model diffs, but 2012 (vvt) engine and gearbox. I do want to put 33's on it. |

With your current gearbox/diffs, 33s and 6.5s you'd be doing 4816rpm at 110. With a non vvt gearbox 4161rpm. |
