ayas The big block 1.3L motor seems to run fine besides some rough idle carby issues. (issue No.1 but nissvit might have a spare hotrod carby for me) issue No2, the oil light on the dash stays on, i have put about 4 1/2 Litres of oil in and it hasn't dripped out anywhere. So, does the oil light come on if oil pressure is low? and where is the sensor thing? issue No.3 , when i pump the brakes fast the motor slows and dies, any ideas what the go is with that? It looks like everything is connected to the right place. |

It looks like everything is connected to the right place. no2 the oil pressure sensor is in front of the left engine mount, look for where the wire is running to and there you have it. yes if you have no psi the oil light will come on. your sensor might of died, just had one go in my old rover project. no3 sounds like you have a vac line on the wrong way or maybe your dizzy advance is stuffed |

No.1 and No.3 could be related to an air leak on the carby or manifold. It could be running too lean due to the air leak and then when the extra air is let into the manifold from the vacuum booster it pushes it over the edge and stalls. |

Thanks Gravity, I'll have a look at that stuff tomorrow too. I guess i should add that this is a new purchase so the motor/carby is all a bit of an unknown quantity and so still sorting out some dodgy arse crap. |

no. Nissvit was over today and said it seemed normal, as the motor only strains if you pump the brakes fast. If you use the brakes normally it's ok. Still have some wierd electrical issues with the loom though so needs more investigation. |

hey there may be a leak in the booster it self. It will be leaking air and causing the air fuel mixture to be out. Just my 2 c Trent |

if it stalls when you hold the brakes tis a leaky booster, if you pump it yeah it sorta happens what electrical stuff you got going on? |

Engine 'straining' while pumping the brakes is normal as the booster is using engine vacuum. |

Oil light stays on when motor running. I changed the oil pressure sensor thing but that didn't fix it. There's no charge light when motor is off, not sure if alternator is working on not. We tried two instrument clusters aswell. |

If your charge light does'nt light, your alternator won't charge. It needs that light to excite the diodes in it. It's possibly also the reason why the oil pressure light stays on. Sounds like the alternator itself is the problem. Make sure all the wiring is connected to the alternator, and whilst the engine is running, give the alternator a bit of a love tap with a hammer. If you hear a bit of a load come on, it means the alternator has started working again. If this is the case replace it anyway, because it won't last long. |
