Ok guys I know it's probably been answered before but I'm looking at buying some 16x7 steelies for my gv. What offset would fit without grinding my callipers down. I'm looking for some decent offset but not too much. cheers

The offset has nothing to do with the caliper clearance. I don't think anyone has found an off-the-shelf steel rim that fits without modification.

Dick Cepek and some other american brand are the only ones that make them if willing to pay for them.

They aren't steel. He specifically asked for 'steelies'.

It might - in theory a 16" rim will clear the calipers - my OE rims are 16x7 Enkei alloys, and I have a friend with 16x7 (OE) steelies - the reason why many 16" steelies won't clear is the profile of the center pressing - space the pressing far enough outward and it WILL clear.

That's exactly what I mean, fordem. The profile of the centre pressing is the issue, not simply the offset or overall diameter. I'm not saying it can't be done (obviously it can, because standard zook 16's fit with zero offset) but there are no readily available off the rack steel rims that fit... which I think is what the original question was.

Yeah I don't like how the rims sit so far in the guards.

So wheel spacers are only way you can get aftermarket steel rims to clear with out grinding?

What's everyone's thoughts on wheel spacer?

Yeah I was just wondering about the studs snapping side of it?

Some people have never had problems with spacers, others have had problems with them coming loose.

Personally, I think increasing rim offset will only make tyre fitment harder so I can't see any advantage.
