Hi, I am re building my front diff with front air locker, chromo axles and all new bearings and seals etc. When i painted the diff housing i forgot to clean up and spray the brake disk cover (face palm ) so my question is it needed? i know sometimes on different cars thing like these can be more hassle then they are worth with catching and holding mud etc etc (not that i like driving in mud much) So should i spend some extra time to clean up and paint the covers and install for extra protection or should i just go ahead with out them.cheers guys!

It's not really needed, I don't have covers on my rear discs but i do on the front. Just watch your brake lines don't go anywhere near the rotors! |

I cut down my disc covers so I still have the centre bit that helps keep mud out of back of wheel bearing. Off road I have found disc covers to be nothing but trouble. |

No dust covers means you can remove the spindle bolts with ratchet spanner. Much fasterer. |
