hey all , here is my new toy 99 jimbob  ... the plan is to keep it as low as possible maybe 1.5 to 2" lift and fit the biggest tyres i can its going to be used as a weekend play rig and part time grocery getter ... so far I've made new front shock mounts from 4mm plate steel , given it a gaurd chop ordered a ora wt case conversion and pickes up a g13bb to rebuild and fit a small turbo saab intercooler with a old wolf 3d management off my old gti swift should be a fun little jigger

Dobinsons do a 30mm lift kit. Might suit your needs. If been wondering if these shorter springs will fully compress in the front, no other Jimny lift kits let you hit the front bump stops. You should throw this in the rigs section and keep us updated on the progress. We like to see some different builds, and this guard chop is a good start.

I'd love a vw1.9tdi but this one is a budget project ... atari sad sad days maybe later  pezz .. I'm not sure what ever pops up maybe 30's for now then a maximum of 33s later |

My 2C - You probably should have bought the tyres before you cut the guards to save rework. From what I've seen, the driveline in Jimny's with a stock motor are reliable at a 30" tyre, but much above that you need to look at other options, front and rear. we had a Jimny in the club running 235 85 16's (32") and it was very hard on driveline. The was pre cromo availability for Jimnys. The tyres were fitted with lots of guard chopping and no real suspension lift - about 25mm. We have another one under planning/construction which will run 255 85 16's ( JDM creepy crawlers) but I'm pretty sure it will have no Jimny driveline once it's finished - J20/AW-4/geared case/Vitara floater and I think a vitara rear in the front. It's going to be a substantial challenge to keep that car low as the front inner guards around the firewall are structural and I think they'll need to be "adjusted" Steve. |

I don't think that's where the problem is, rather, it's when the car is fully flexed and you're trying to tuck a 33 at lock. From what I've seen, the inner guard structure needs to be moved upwards, similar to what we do with a Sierra for a "virtual lift" However, on a Jimny it's multi-layered and welded to the firewall. That's complex to deal with. The next issue is in behind the headlight. The complexity of a meaningful guard chop/refabrication (not the skins, the inner guards) is why I think jimny's tend to end up on small tyres compared to Sierra and/or huge lift. Steve. |

the front bodymount gave monley trouble with 31's on -24 offset 15x8's, scrubed on lock. i think you would have to run bumpstops to suit the tyres and lock it for when you lift a wheel |

Agreed Jezza, the problem there is to retain useful/any compression travel, that pushes suspension lift up, which the OP is trying to avoid (wisely, in my opinion) Neo on here viewtopic.php?f=4&t=46882 is looking at some pretty wild work around the body mount/headlight area to get just over a 33 on the car at what I'll refer to as "victorian" height. (so basically no lift) Steve. |

thats not that bad at all seeing i paid 2300 for my fjcruiser ones stupid US dollar has added to the price I have to pay for cvs. |
