howdy people.

easy question.
done a bit of a search on here to see what other people have as roof racks for touring on their Grand Vitara's but haven't found much.

I've got an 07 trekker v6, and I'm looking at setting it up for a tour north of Perth for a few weeks inland.
In order to do so, I'll be after a roof rack to store another tyre and about 100lt of fuel plus bits and bobs.

The thing I've found is that most of the roof racks i look at, are rated at 50kg. This would be the spare tyre, jack and camping chairs, meaning that i need to store fuel in the car. Whilst I have done this in the past, its never been 100lts, plus everything else that needs to go in there car.

Does anybody know if its the cars roof and roof rack connections that are the limiting factors in the design, or is it the product itself that is limited.

i've been looking at the tradie (thinking that the tradie package is higher rated...apparently not) rack from Rhino rack as i like the design and side rails. I'll be reno'ing a new house in the furniture, so being able to carry lengths of timber would be great.

any ideas. if i've missed a search item, please let me know.

cheers nelly

Hey its the zook recommendation that you dont put that much up there. I believe it in the owners manual. 100 ltrs sounds excessive, are u crossing the csr? Do u have a tyre repair kit and compressor? The thing that makes zooks good is there light.

Howdy Mate,

yeh looking at gearing the car up for the Canning and to do it I'll need to drag a fair bit of fuel along with me, plus spares.

i did a trip a few months back in which i had 20lts of fuel in the car. I was happy with that, but I dont want to go over that.

may have to find another alternatives, apart form getting a rear bar made up for $3000

Anyways, thanks mate.

Yes, if it's anything like my 2004 model XL-7 the maximum load is only 50kg including your racks. Which means you can't carry much at all.

Check the owner's manual if you've got it.
