My Sierra and Vit both do that - both started doing it at well over 300,000km so i figured it was just a sign of parts being past their use-by.

I too am curious of a solution.

The obvious solution is a new instrument cluster out of a wreck... lol, but i prefer to fix it.

My first one had that issue. Then my white softy developed the issue.

A new cluster fixed it.

I took mine apart this arvo and had a play around. Lubed everything up etc.

It's a pretty poor design. When you push the button down it's not in the middle, so the little assembly goes down crooked and jams up on the guide posts... I removed one of the return springs which helped make it track straighter and jam less (and its easier to push now too) however a quick test drive shows that while the button is now easier to push it's still jamming.

haha not really in my interest to change it anyway, the body is the only thing that's done that many km!!

I have found that moving helps it reset. I reset mine on the way out of the petrol station. At the pump it will be jammed but a few hundred metres down the road it will tick over first go.

^^ That's how mine started...

Give it 6-12 months and you'll be in the same boat as me i reckon!
