So, id like to update my alt. Mine is getting sad, however.. The typical 110amp wont work for my application. I cant have that amount of v-belt load. The mounts are close to exactly the same as a g13a. Something about 50amp I just don't have enough charge to run everything at night. What is close to a bolt on job? I have no worries changing the plug etc. Phil |

Just run a 110A. with a good belt and good pulleys it will work. Point is, if the 110A alt is slipping the belt it's because you're drawing over (about) 80A, so keep that up and you'll have a flat battery if you run a smaller alternator. with my 660, a 100A alternator and a single V belt it would slip a little on startup and was otherwise fine. if I was slack with the belt/tension it would slip with all lights and the fans on, but that was quite a bit of load. |

I run the 110 on my f10 with the power steering pump the only slip I get is when the motor hasn't been started for a few weeks and normally have to have the light bar and head lights on at the same time |

I only have a small contact on my crank pully so it will slip. ATM its fine and I don't want to go though the work to change it! Something about 60amp will do it. |

You're missing the point. If load doesn't exceed 60a it doesn't matter how big your alt is - it could be 1000A and the belt won't slip. |

Yes but when you only have enough belt purchase to support 60ish amps, everytime I have a cold start or draw more than ##amps for a short period of time, I will get bloody belt slip, and in my car, belt slip means no water pump, fan, power steer etc. And it also trashed belts. ATM its fine, it works and belts last a good period of time. Btw I had a 110amp on 2 zooks now and belt slip was ALWAYS a issue. |
