| Post subject: | Auto up on drivers window |
Hi, I am new to the forum and this is my first venture into 4x4. I have purchased a 2008 Grand Vitara and enjoying the rids. I moved from a 2001 Pulsar that had this great feature of the driver windows having auto down and auto up. IE hold the window button down for a second and the window goes all the way down and vise verse. My Vitara only has the auto down option for closing the drivers window. Is there anyway of enabling the auto up feature on the drivers windows regards Henry |

I doubt it. id say its in the switch and window controller. without swapping to a controller and switch from a car that has this function its not gonna happen |

I did read on Honda/Toyota/Nissan etc that if u press down and hold for 10 sec ...then press up and hold for 10 sec this reprograms/enables the function. Tried this and all I ended up with was a drivers window that did not open properly until I switch of the ignition, waited an hr to reset. Yep, u r probably right...I was hoping for an easier solution...appreciate your response |

I can't recall any car I've driven built in the last 10 years having auto-up windows - only auto-down. I'd guess it's a safety feature. |

Our polo and my dad's golf have both... and if you hold "unlock" on the key fob while walking towards the car it will wind all 4 windows down to "air the car out" before you get in too! |

You can buy a module to wind your (power) windows up and close your sunroof when you lock the car. |

Depends on the manufacturer - I have a 98 Mitubishi Pajero iO that has auto up/down on all four windows, and my wife's last two Lancers (an 03 & a 13) have auto up/down on the driver's door only. They do have a safety feature - if the window strikes an object on the way up, it reverses direction and opens 3~4 inches allowing you to remove whatever is blocking it. |
