Narrow body Vitara, these are notorious for cracks. Early SWBs had G16as.

X90, also cracks.

1998 onwards baleno, earlier ones had a dizzy that wont clear the firewall. You need the twin coilpack motor.

SWB Jelly bean shape GV. Pretty rare, most were 2.0ls.

Cheers mate.
Good to know about the balenos, they're a lot cheaper than the vitara!

If you keep an eye on the auctions low km crashed balenos come up cheap every now and then for a few hundred.

Bear in mind the Baleno is a bit more complex to fit because of thermostat housing location. Also, part of the appeal of the Vitara conversion is that you can use the superior gearboxes from the Vitara donor too, especially the Aw-4

I've done both conversions, they both have their pros and cons.

I'm not too fussed about the gearbox as I'll be mating it up to my sierra manual box anyway.
What's the issue with the thermostat housing location?

its comes out the back of the block, and you need to find/make some thing to bring it forward to the radiator

Don't you have to swap to a Vitara cam?
