what carby can I put on my g13a motor.the original aisin carby one is stuffed and I would like to put a simple type of carby on with manual choke. thanks

mod it ,check good tech, try modding it first i bought a new carbie and decided to mod my old one before i put the reco one on that was 3 months ago and it hasn't missed a beat . chokes suck

Yep, chokes are terrible when you're trying to get your car to start from cold. What were they even thinking dreaming up that stupid choke idea. It's heaps easier to start with some throttle, try to not flood it, then bunny hop and chug down the road for the first 5 minutes and sit at the lights with your foot on the throttle trying to stop it dying.

I don't understand the problem with auto chokes - they are easily adjustable and work effectively.

I adjusted mine pretty easily.

Suits Territory conditions well.

Suits everywhere well. If you can't adjust the auto choke on a Sierra you probably should leave the stuff under the bonnet for others.

At the advice of a prominent NT AZ member, I adjusted the location of mine, it went from being located on the side of the carb to being located on a shelf somewhere in the shed. The linkage from the throttle to the choke was getting bound up due to a worn or missing return spring and causing a hanging idle. The choke plate was functioning properly in its hot and cold "settings".

I honestly haven't missed it one iota. Starting has been improved and the idle is rock solid since.

It doesn't really get below 20C here for long though.

my aisin carby using heaps of fuel. the idle up linkages arnt on.the cold idle up dosnt work and the choke/butterfly valve is always closed.so can I take off the cold/idle up linkages off and take off the choke/butterfly valve. ive seen it done on the good tech page. thanks

I dont understand what the issue is regards to carbs. Your carbs done 250,000 kms parts are now starting to wear put after being in mud and dust for its whole life.
Just get a rebuilt or new carb and be happy for the rest of the time your gunna own the car which im gunna bet isnt 250,000kms

mine starts easy without choke i don't even get in the car i just turn the key and come back in 5 mins and it runs fine, tho it hasn't been under 18 degrees yet , might be different in winter

I persevered with my carby as long as i could.
I wanted to spend as little as possible and get efi instead.

A DIY carby rebuild may yield some improvements.
There is a carby section in the drover factory service manual, if you download it - google to find it

An old corolla carby from 4k motors may be helpful, but could be a waste of coin too.

Hi just after a bit of info if anyone has successfully gained more down low power by swapping the main jet, secondary jet & stretching the secondary jet spring. I have read a lot of forums with people saying it is a real improvment but all i have found after trying it on my 85 zoosk is it makes it run rough & really rich.
If anyone has any information on this or if its even worth while, or if i should get rid of the stock carby & go with the 3K/4K carby instead, it would be greatly appreciated.
