This is based on North American wiring data for a Samurai (wide track, I believe) but I hope it helps... Referring to the SJ413 diagram (http://acksfaq.com/diagram_color_86-88_sam.htm) There are three wires connected to the alternator - a thick white with a yellow tracer wire connecting to the "+" stud, a White with a Red tracer wire and a Black with a white tracer wire. The last two are connected to the alternator via a round snap-in plug. The White with red tracer wire only goes to the brake fluid level switch and the dash Binnacle unit. The Black with White tracer wire looks like a common earth circuit as it goes to a lot of different places. Thus, I suspect that you are looking for the White/Red wire. The best way to answer this question is to remove the binnacle itself and trace the wiring from the alternator light to the associated wire on the binnacle harness plug. That does not sound like a lot of fun... I hope that this helps! |
