Hey all, basically doing up the bosses rig for him and its come time to get some lift and tyres. The car is a 1989 Sierra JX SJ50 D Ute Was scratching my head in regards to tyres size and lift. He doesn't want to go to high and be stupid, so I was thinking of a 2" EFS lift kit from superior with 15x7 -15mm steelies with 235x75x15's in the KM2's Now the questions: - will the tyres scrub the body/springs with this setup? - will 30's be a better option or keep to the 29's? - do you need aftermarket steering components or is there enough adjustment on the stock drag link? - extended brake lines needed? - are castor correction plates required for the 2" springs? Yeah that's always in the cards as we do live on the beach. If a gear set is needed then might proceed down that path later, but for now really just want to get the suspension lift and new tyres on it as the old ones are shot. |

Now the answers: - will the tyres scrub the body/springs with this setup? Maybe on the front outriggers on the chassis if they are still there. - will 30's be a better option or keep to the 29's? If you're not going to address gearing stick to 29's. - do you need aftermarket steering components or is there enough adjustment on the stock drag link? It's all fine for a 2 inch lift - extended brake lines needed? No, you're not going to get that much extra travel from a bolt on lift. - are castor correction plates required for the 2" springs? No. |

Cheers mate. Its currently running 29's and they sort of fill the guards alright even with the stock sagged springs. Im thinking a new lift, some nice new 29's still should get it some places while keeping the manners in check. I don't think there will be plans for a motor swap anytime soon so the gearing issue might remain untouched for a while. Will this setup still flex a little bit??? Planning on the EFS setup and worst comes to worst, remove a leaf if its too firm. |

Remove a leaf before installation unless you're going to be using it for heavy loads. It will be all right for flex, straight away you won't see huge gains but as you run them and they wear in it will get better. |

Was interested in that as well. Is it the leaf below the attaching leaf with the eyelets? (one that bolts to the car) I have read that the EFS leafs can be quite stiff. |

Third leaf from the top I'd remove. You obviously leave the main leaf and then the second leaf supports the main the most. Either the third or fourth, third will lower the spring rate more and the car will settle lower which is preferable but if you want static lift then the fourth is a better option assuming the leaves are the same thickness. And I'd get rid of any load springs if they have them but that's because I wasn't interested in carrying loads in a sierra, on a ute it might be worth keeping them in case a decent load gets put on the tray. |

Thanks for you help lads. Got a EFS 2" kit coming from superior, new snorkel and a set of BFG KM2s in 29's Then it will be interior fitout and new rollbar. Then a good tidy up and she should be ready to rumble. |
