so i flicked 4xfour art an email asking if they do a lift for the sj80, because if you go under the samurai catagoery they have a lift kit for that but it didnt specify what it would fit. I asked them if they did kit for the 1996 SJ80 coily and they replied with this..... ------------------------------- Hello Isaac, Thank you for your inquiry. Yes we can supply you with the 10 cm suspension kit for your Samurai 96 SJ80. A picture of the kit and a pic of a recent application is attached. The price of this kit is 950 euros. The kit is similar to our 10 cm suspension kit for the Suzuki Jimny. The kit gives a full 10 cms of suspension lift even for the heaviest vehicle. The list of parts in the kit for the Samurai Coil Spring version is as follows : SAMURAI 4 " (10CM) SUSP. 1) you realise that's going to be highly illegal in Australia? 2) you also realise that your going to be looking at a stupid amount of money for this right? 3) why would you even think this was a good idea? |

yeah thats what i will most likely end up doing but just didnt really want a cheap 1.5 inch lift of ebay |

Search it there's a coily In Israel in the rigs section with the kit, it's dosnt sound real good. |

A Coily, or any Sierra in general, hardly needs 4 inches of lift. 40-50mm MAX is all I'd suggest. My suggestion is to do some custom fab to get rid of the strut setup and run a seperate coil and shock. Much better to acheive more travel rather than more height. |

What tyre size do you plan on running? For the $1500 to $1800 that kit will cost, you would be far better off with either transfer gearing, engine upgrade, air locker, a set of tyres or a custom front diff upgrade. A $200 body lift and the ultima lift would be enough, as the others said, anything over 4inches of lift is a recipe for a rollover. |

Check Epitam's build thread on here - he has fitted the kit. I don't like it, from what I have seen. It does nothing to fix any of the inherent coil sierra suspension design problems, and adds some more all of it's own. It requires welding to install, meaning in Australia the kit will require some sort of engineering approval/mod plating. It lowers the front roll centre for a reason I can't easily explain. The springs foul on the chassis the brake lines will need to be replaced with ADR compliant lines It runs spherical bearings at the chassis end of the radius arm mounts. As far asI can tell, that's just adding a maintenance point where one didn't exist for no other gain. And after all that, the car won't be better. It will just be taller. If you want to avoid custom fabrication, a 2" suspension lift and a 2" body lift will run a larger tyre with a lower centre of gravity. Steve. |
