Post subject:  Reconditioned or rebuilt Suzuki motors

Hi, Anyone know the best place to get a re-con or crate motor for a 1990 Vitara 1.6ltr petrol? Mine has died and I don't want to have to get rid of my Zooka. What would I expect to pay? Im in Perth WA but if the price was right on a good one I'd be willing to freight one over from the Eastern States?
Thanks

Personally, I'd avoid a reconditioned motor. The cost of properly reconditioning a Suzuki motor will exceed the value of the vehicle. Most are cheaply rebuilt and will have a service life of about 1/10th that of the original motor.

I would find a low km replacement motor from a wrecker. Purchase one with a warranty that's been compression tested and I reckon you'll get a much better motor than a cheap rebuild.

Steve.
